Dining and Lounge Cars

From the late 1800s to the 1930s, private rail cars were the vehicle of choice for bankers, railroad barons and other wealthy Americans. Like five-star hotels on wheels, the spacious and elegant surroundings of a rail car could not be topped, either for speed, function or style.

With original designer Raymond Loewy’s specifications, drawings and some photographs, we’ve recreated the Broadway Limited’s dining, lounge and sleeper cars true to the original rolling stock.

Our buffet lounge car, Catalpa Falls, seats up to 21 in the main lounge and includes a galley kitchen with bar service. It features six double bedrooms, and can sleep up to 12 people. This all-purpose car can travel on its own, with plenty of room for small groups.

Our sleeper car, Chippewa Creek features four double bedrooms and a dozen duplexes, which are single accommodations with full sofa and writing table. Run together, these cars can sleep up to 32 people in comfort.
